POLAND’S UPGRADE IN THE DOING BUSINESS RANKING
Doing Business is a yearly report published by the World Bank. It includes a description and comparison of the conditions for conducting business in 190 countries of the world. The report analyses the regulations concerning the activities of the companies within the scope of gaining permits, paying taxes, international exchange, etc. The report is being issued continuously since 2003.
In the 2017 Doing Business ranking Poland was awarded 24th place. The upgrade of one position in relation to the previous year was possible due to the introduction of the new restructuring law and the amendment to the construction law.
Poland’s position in each category of the Doing Business 2017 ranking (the change in comparison with the previous year is displayed in brackets):
starting a business – 107 (downgrade by 22 positions)
dealing with construction permits – 46 (upgrade by 6 positions)
getting electricity – 46 (upgrade by 3 positions)
registering property – 38 (upgrade by 3 positions)
getting a loan – 19 (upgrade by 1 position)
protecting minority investors – 49 (downgrade by 7 positions)
paying taxes – 58 (downgrade by 11 positions)
trading across borders – 1 (no change)
enforcing contracts - 55 (no change)
